Goodbye Mrs. Alem Tsehai Medhanie
I was really deeply shocked and struck by sadness when I heard today, Thursday 26th November 2015, of the untimely death of Weizero (Mrs) Alem Tsehai Medhanie, the wife of the late indefatigable Eritrean nationalist freedom fighter Dr. Beyene Kidane – who also died on Friday 5 April 2013, at the age of 68, in Cologne, West Germany.
Regrettably, owing to the existence of a blood-thirsty vindictive dictator in Eritrea, the nationalist hero Dr. Beyene Kidane, following in the footsteps of his close comrades – the late Ahmed Nasser, Sium Ogbamichael (Harestay), Eyob Bisrat and others – was buried in a foreign land.
I was lucky then to have participated in his burial ceremony in Cologne. Unfortunately, this time, due to time constraints, I am not lucky enough to participate in the funeral of our dear sister Woizero Alem Tsehai Medhanie, following her premature death.
Her remains will be buried alongside those of her husband, on the 27th November 2015 at 9.00am, at the Nordfriedhof cemetery in Stadtteil Weidenpesch, Pallenbergstr. 33, 50737 Cologne, Germany.
May her soul rest in peace. May the living members of her beloved family also gain the strength and the power to be able to deal with their deep grief.
