As the country turns 29 this month, what does Eritrean Independence remind Eritreans of?

As far as I am concerned, as Eritrea turns 29 this month, May 2020, it reminds me of nothing except the monumental and untold suffering and humiliation of the Eritrean people for 29 years under the crude and cruel, totalitarian and murderous rule of dictator Issayas Afeworki and his criminal associates.

It also reminds me of the mass exodus of Eritrean youth to various far-away countries where they have become unwelcome guests and are leading unfulfilled lives.

So, should we then celebrate Eritrean Independence Day this month, considering that we have independence without freedom and security, comparable to a depressingly dark summer without sunshine?
