In April last year, reports of slavery in Libya sent the world in shock and got a number of stakeholders condemning the act worldwide!

One of the many victims of slavery in Libya has spoken out on what life is like to live in what he calls a container.

The two Eritrean men sold multiple times and still trapped in Libya talked to Aljazeera via a smuggled phone. According to Sami, 18 he was smuggled to Libya via Chad where the smugglers were paid $1,500.

“It’s ok if I die in the sea. It’s better than the hell I saw in Libya and the hell awaiting me in Eritrea if I return. If I make it anywhere in Europe I might have a chance.” Sami said.
