The Events which Shook Eritrea and PFDJ leaders on 21st January 2013!!

This is an article I wrote on January 25, 2013 in support of the Eritrean patriots who led the brief revolt against the PFDJ regime on January 21st, 2013. I am posting it again on the express request by some readers of Mdre Bahri.

Drs. Tsegezab Gebregergis,

At long last, some earthshaking political events which have shocked and shaken the thI4YHZMLCtotalitarian PFDJ ruling clique have taken place in Eritrea. As is indeed the case, on the 21st of January, 2013, some armed members of the Eritrean defence forces led by the brave Wedi Ali boldly took direct revolutionary action by occupying the building of the Ministry of Information which also houses Eritrean Television (Ere-TV), and briefly bringing the entire crew of Ere-TV and its director under their total control. Having done so, the revolutionary Eritrean nationalists, who consciously and bravely chose to stand on the side of the oppressed Eritrean people, forced the Director of Ere-TV to broadcast their political demands as follows:

(a) The immediate release of all political prisoners in Eritrea, and

(b) The urgent implementation of the 1997 ratified Eritrean Constitution.

I really admire and fully support the selfless and heroic initial revolutionary measures which our brothers and sisters have courageously undertaken on the home front. For I believe the above stated political demands of the members of the Eritrean Defence forces fully express the aspirations and the demands of the Eritrean people in their millions. Hence, I demand the immediate implementation of the above stated just demands of the Eritrean people, with no “ifs” or “buts”, for the sake of the peace, security, unity, and stability of our country and its people.

However, after all is said and done, I would like to remind our people that lasting peace, unity and stability can be achieved in our country only when the rule of the PFDJ regime is terminated and power transferred to its rightful owners: the Eritrean people. Thus, the political struggle to bring to an immediate end to the totalitarian rule in Eritrea must continue without any letup.

I assure you, our brothers and sisters back at home, that we will stand with you firmly until the demise of the totalitarian PFDJ regime is assured and the dignity of the Eritrean people fully restored.

In the meantime, I call upon all Eritreans inside and outside the country to give their unconditional support to the heroic and selfless revolutionary action of the democratic and progressive elements within the Eritrean Defence Forces by holding demonstrations everywhere to show our solidarity.

Long live revolutionary solidarity among the oppressed people everywhere!!

The future is bright for Eritrea and its people!!

Forward with the democratic struggle to unseat the totalitarian PFDJ regime!!
