Soon To Come!
In July 1998, I organized a two-day Eritrea/Ethiopia Peace Conference at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. One of the invited keynote speakers at the Conference was Seyoum O-Michael. The paper he presented was on Eritrean/Ethiopian conflict mainly focusing on the possible causes of the conflict, its wider regional implications and how to address the problem and need for its urgent resolution.
As readers are already informed, on the 19th of December 2015 is the Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of our late dear brother and comrade, the Veteran fighter Seyoum Ogbamicheal . I therefore thought one of the best way to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the lifelong fighter is to publish one of the most important speech he delivered at the Eritrea/Ethiopia Peace Conference which was held on 11th and 12th of July 1998 at the University of Amsterdam.
In the six-page document presented to the conference, Seyoum Ogbamichael tries to understand and explain in historical perspective the hidden aspects which triggered what appeared to be a sudden flare up of an armed conflict between the armies of a two supposedly allied governments. In it, he has outlined in greater detail how to achieve peace and stability between Eritrea and Ethiopia.
Thus, in the interest of the public, I have decided to publish the speech of Seyoum O-Michael in its entirety and unadulterated form on the 19th of December 2015 to coincide with the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of his death.
